Ciao!
My name is Giulia and I started Cuore Italiano in 2020.
I love languages, ice-cream and discovering different cultures. You will most likely find me at home with a book in one hand, a cup of tea in the other. Or travelling. Or daydreaming - or perhaps both at once! I have always loved learning new things; when an opportunity comes my way, I think "Why not?" and I want to empower others to feel that nothing is out of reach.
I was born in Italy around 30 years ago, in the warm heart of Tuscany.
Since the early years of secondary school, I developed a love for my language, its literature and the lively culture that it inhabits. This passion drove me to pursue an undergraduate degree in Italian literature and language, before doing a Masters in ancient cultures (with a focus on Latin and Greek - that's where my passion for etymology comes from!)
During my studies it quickly became obvious to me that I had one calling above all – teaching. I started off by helping my peers and colleagues to explore methods of learning, finding out what would be most effective for them, before moving into dedicated sessions with younger students.
After my Masters I moved to London, where I worked at one of the most amazing museums ever, the Sir John Soane's Museum, before moving into teaching Italian as a foreign language full-time.
The best part of my job is getting to know people from different backgrounds, teaching them something I love - my language, Italian! - and at the same time learning so much from them about their lives and cultures. Without a doubt, this is the job I have always dreamt of.
MY curriculum in a few words
I hold a BA in Italian Literature and a MA in Philology, Literature and Culture of Ancient Civilisations, both with honours, gained from the Università degli studi di Firenze (Florence).
In London I obtained my CLTA - Certificate in Language Teaching to Adults. Whilst working at several language schools, I studied for my DITALS II, the highest qualification in teaching Italian as a foreign language, issued by Università per Stranieri di Siena. Afterwards, I gained another Masters in Didactics and Teaching Methodology from Università per Stranieri di Reggio Calabria and later became qualified as an Examiner for CILS (Certificazione di Italiano Lingua Straniera) - the highest-level Italian language certification
In the UK I have been working for more than six years as a tutor within renowned companies such as Ernst & Young, J.P. Morgan, Thomson Reuters, as well as an Italian language teacher for King’s College London and the London Business School.
Why Choose cuore italiano?
After many years of teaching I realised that there was something missing from the courses offered to people online - a more open, warm and tailored approach, but founded on the highest level of language methodology. So, I decided to create Cuore Italiano in order to fill this gap. Here you will find unique and free resources, many exercises and a series of podcasts to speed up your learning process.
Also, if you are looking for a teacher who can be an expert guide and a friend at the same time, someone with a broad range of knowledge and expertise, someone who knows how give you the right motivation… well, here I am!
Head to my Testimonials page to see what past students have said about their experiences; the proof of a true teacher, beyond their qualifications on paper, lies in the footprints they leave behind.
And the love they put into their teaching.
